Icy/ Wheels Day

Puriri team had a great day on Friday the 3rd of April when we were allowed to bring our bikes, rollerblades, rollerskates, scooters, skateboards or heelies shoes to school.  We spent an exciting time practising our skills and showing others our talents.  Ms Whysall was a super star on her rollerskates and I am pleased to announce there were no major tumbles or injuries.  Paulie was amazing on his rollerblades and managed to weave his way through the cones and do all sorts of other moves, tricks and spins.

Hello World!

Silly Hat Day

On Wednesday the 1st April 2009 Rimu team organised a Silly Hat Day at school.  Room 6 spent two afternoons making their hats out of recycled materials.  We used old cardboard, scraps and off cuts of coloured paper, old bookclub booklets, old Duffy book booklets and any other interesting rubbish lying around.  Every class paraded around the courts with their hats on and it was a wonderful, colourful and exciting day.  Two children from each team recieved prizes for the most creative recycled hats.  Have a look at our great photos!

Homework

Hi children, parents and caregivers,

All children should be practising their times tables and spelling words every night for homework.  Small red spelling notebooks should go home on Monday.  They can stay at home all week and come back the following Monday.  Children should also be reading every night for 15-20 minutes.  Reading is wonderful and can be a great time to connect and share the love of reading with your children.

Race Relations Day

On Friday 23 March we had a fantastic day at school for Race Relations Day.  The children looked wonderful in their different cultural costumes and we enjoyed some delicious food from many different countries.

A big thank you to all the children and parents for dressing up and preparing and cooking food for the children to share.  Thank you to Hassan for coming into Room 6 and sharing about Somalia with us.  We enjoyed your singing and information.
